Words in Progress

The online edition of GE is updated by adding entries from Words in Progress (translated into English) on a regular basis. Words in Progress (WiP) is an online initiative by a team of scholars around Franco Montanari, in their words “an online freely consultable database that is continuously enriched. It represents an on-going supplement to the major currently used dictionaries of Ancient and Byzantine Greek and seeks to provide a scientific tool for scholars of Greek and more generally of the Ancient Greek and Latin world.”

• In existing entries, opening and closing icons indicate the added content.
• With completely new entries, these symbols stand at the entry’s very beginning and end. Additionally, the opening symbol is displayed in the vocabulary search list.
• Discussions in the WiP database that could not be included in GE are linked to by the symbol .
